Resetting your Lenovo Laptop (P1, P1Gen 2, P1Gen3 and P1Gen4)
- If you start to experience issues with your laptop, you have the option to “Reset” the device yourself
- Reset comes with 2 options “Keep my files” and “Remove everything”
- Both options will remove any programs you currently have installed, and restore windows to factory settings, “Keep my files” will try and determine where you have saved personal files and will attempt to save them. IMPORTANT: It is strongly recommended you backup anything you do not want to lose; it is also recommended you save your files to your OneDrive - Rose-Hulman
- Prior to resetting your laptop, please ensure it is plugged into a reliable power source, performing this task on battery power is not recommended
- To reset your laptop:
- Click the start button
- Click the gear icon for the Settings menu
- Click Update & Security
- Click Recovery located on the left column
- Under Reset this PC click Get started
- User Access Control enter your Username and Password
- Next choose either “Keep my files” or "Remove everything”
- Click on "Local reinstall" then Next
- Click Reset
