Banner is a suite of software and an associated relational database designed to support administrative and academic processes. Because it utilizes a single, integrated database, it facilitates the sharing of information between departments and with other systems.  

What most campus users know as “Banner” is more correctly called “Banner Self Service”, a set of web applications designed for a user to be able to access specific information that pertains to them.  But there is a much more complex layer that allows administrative users to manage the business of the Institute.

Banner is crucial to effectively operating our institute.  Data housed there inform decisions made across the institute every day. In particular, Banner is our “system of record”, meaning that it is considered the trusted source for accurate information about students, employees, vendors, facilities, etc.
