Most major phone carriers (including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint) now have Wi-Fi calling.  The main benefit of this feature is to assist customers with better connections when making calls from indoors or areas where the cellular connection is inconsistent.  This feature is available on the following devices:

  • iPhone 6 (and above)
  • Samsung Galaxy 7, J3, J7 (and above)
  • Google Pixel, XL / 2 / 2XL, and Nexus 6P
  • Samsung Note8
  • LG G5, G6, V20, V30, K10, K20, and X Venture (and above)
  • Moto Z / Z2

To activate this feature on iPhone:  Settings > Phone > Wi-Fi Calling
Note: You may be prompted to answer some questions to complete the set-up.

To activate this feature on Android:  Settings > Wireless >  Wi-Fi Calling

If you need assistance or are unsure whether or not your phone has WiFi Calling, or how to activate it, please contact the EIT Service Desk.

*For this feature to work, you must be connected to Wi-FI, on campus your phone should be registered as a network device and should be connected to eduroam.  Also, Wi-Fi calling will be most successful if you remain in one general location.  For example, beginning a call using Wi-Fi calling and then moving away from the area with a Wi-Fi signal may result in a dropped call.
