How to Determine if you should use Eduroam or RHIT-OPEN on your device
Eduroam versus rhit-open:
EIT is proud to offer two different choices for connecting to the wireless network. Both of these networks have specific uses.
- Eduroam is the main wireless network at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Laptops, phones and tablets can connect to Eduroam by first registering the MAC address and then signing in to eduroam using your full email address (username@rose-hulman.edu) and network password. To register your MAC address, contact the Service Desk.
- RHIT-OPEN is used to connect guests of Rose-Hulman to the wireless network. Guests should select the RHIT-OPEN wireless network, open a web browser and enter a valid email address when prompted. They will then be connected to the wireless network. RHIT-OPEN is also used for connecting devices other than laptops, phones and tablets to the wireless network. These devices include smart tv’s, game consoles, etc. To connect to the RHIT-OPEN network, please register your device using Clearpass at: https://clearpass.rose-hulman.edu/guest/auth_login.php. Sign in with your email address and network password. Click Create Device. Enter MAC Address type of item to be registered, expiration date and email address. Then click Create Device.
**Make sure you register device before trying to connect to RHIT-OPEN. If you connect to RHIT-OPEN prior to registering your device, you will be considered a Guest. If this happens, please submit a Service Request with MAC address to resolve this issue**
RHIT-OPEN is restricted from accessing EIT-provided services such as email, DFS, and license servers; however, devices on this network will have access to labs, classrooms, residence halls, and the Internet.
